NORMAL, Ill. – The Vincennes University baseball season likely came to a close Thursday afternoon at the Corn Crib in Normal, Ill. with the No. 5 seed Blazers falling 6-5 to No. 3-seed Parkland College in an elimination game at the Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) tournament. The game Thursday began almost exactly like VU’s opening round game against Danville Area with Vincennes trailing early after Parkland hit a three-run home run in the first inning. VU would get a run back in the second however, after a leadoff triple by sophomore Connor VanLannen (Clinton, Ind.). VanLannen would later score on a groundout by freshman Jordan Roth (Delphi, Ind.).

NORMAL, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers face an uphill battle the rest of the weekend after falling in the first game of the Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) Tournament Wednesday morning in Normal. The fifth-seeded Blazers fell to No. 4-seed Danville Area 6-3 in a back-and-forth battle. The Jaguars got on the board early to begin the conference tournament, striking big in the first with a two-out three-run home run to take the lead.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Trailblazer baseball team took the field at Jerry Blemker Field for one last time during the 2022 Spring regular season Saturday afternoon and did not disappoint on Sophomore Recognition Day. Vincennes picked up two wins and completed the four-game weekend sweep over John Wood, winning game one of the day 6-2 and taking game two 12-0 in five innings. VU got on the board first in game one of the day when sophomore Ryan Bartley (Tuscola, Ill.) led off the third inning with a single.

The Trailblazers took game one over the Cobras 7-4 behind yet another really great pitching performance behind sophomore Connor VanLannen (Clinton, Ind.). Parkland battled back to take game two in comeback fashion, winning 7-5 over Vincennes.

ALTON, Ill. – VU sophomore center fielder Colin Long (Evansville, Ind.) broke a 7-7 tie in game four of Vincennes’ four-game Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) series at Lewis & Clark with a solo home run in the eighth inning to help give VU a 9-7 win to close out the series. Vincennes fell in the first game of the day 5-0 before battling back to take game two 9-7 and coming home with a 2-2 series split. Lewis & Clark wasted little time in game one of the day, scoring three runs in the first and adding another run in the second to take a 4-0 early lead.

ALTON, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazer baseball team opened their four-game Mid-West Athletic Conference series Sunday afternoon against the Lewis & Clark CC Trailblazers. The series was pushed back a day after the rain in the forecast for Saturday and was moved to nearby Lloyd Hopkins Field in Alton, Ill. Vincennes took game one of the series 17-7 before host Lewis & Clark battled back to take game two 11-4.

ROBINSON, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazer baseball team took a short trip north to Robinson for another mid-week showdown with the Statesmen Tuesday afternoon. Vincennes gave up one big inning to host Lincoln Trail, where three fielding errors led to a big six-run inning for the Statesmen. VU attempted a comeback but ultimately fell short as Lincoln Trail came away with the 12-7 win.

Vincennes got the scoring started early in game one of the day, with leadoff hitter freshman Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.) reaching on a bunt single and advancing to second on a throwing error. Burdette would later score the first run of the game on a double steal attempt.

FAIRFIELD, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers are taking advantage of their Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) bye week with four straight games against NJCAA Division I opponents, beginning with a two-game set with Frontier Community College. VU traveled to Fairfield, Ill. Saturday afternoon to take part in a single nine-inning game as part of a two-game home-and-home series with the Bobcats. The host Bobcats got off to a hot start, scoring four runs in the first inning, including getting three runs in the first three pitches of the game.

The Loggers picked up the first win of the day, taking game three of the series 13-2 before VU rallied back to finish the weekend by taking game four 4-2 with Vincennes starter sophomore Kestler Harbuck (Brooksville, Fla.) threw seven innings allowing only one hit. Lincoln Land began the day with a bang Sunday afternoon, jumping out to an early lead after scoring three runs in the first inning and two in the second.

CANTON, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazer baseball team finished their four-game road Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) series at Spoon River Monday. The day began by finishing the final two innings of game two yesterday, which was suspended due to darkness. Vincennes finished off the 18-10 win. Vincennes also won game three of the series 10-7 after riding a big first inning.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University baseball team completed the four-game sweep of opening weekend at Jerry Blemker Field Monday by defeating Ancilla College 10-2 and South Suburban 3-1. The Trailblazers began their day against the Ancilla Chargers and wasted little time jumping out to a quick lead in the first inning. Sophomore Connor VanLannen (Clinton, Ind.) came through with a two RBI single which gave VU the early 2-0 lead.
