VINCENNES, Ind. – The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) announced their 2021-22 All-Academic Teams Monday afternoon and the list of nearly 10,000 student-athletes featured 18 Vincennes University Trailblazers. VU had five student-athletes named to the All-Academic First Team, earning a GPA of 4.00 during the 2021-22 academic year. Four student-athletes named to the Second Team, with a GPA between 3.80 and 3.99 and nine named to the Third Team with a GPA between 3.60 and 3.79. Vincennes University and the VU Athletic Department are proud of the hard work and dedication these student-athletes have shown not only on the competition field, but in the classroom as well.
VINCENNES, Ind. – Vincennes University sophomore Peyton Lane (New Paris, Ohio) and freshman Colton Evans (Henderson, Ky.) received Second-Team All-Conference honors this past weekend at the 2022 Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) Baseball Tournament in Normal, IL. VU sophomore Luke Osborn (Perrysville, Ind.) was named All-Conference Honorable Mention and sophomore Colin Long (Evansville, Ind.) was named to the 2022 MWAC Rawlings Gold Glove Team. VU shortstop and Northern Kentucky signee Peyton Lane earned Second-Team All-Conference honors after posting a .399 batting average, with 22 doubles and 29 RBI’s, while drawing 18 walks in 50 games this season.
NORMAL, Ill. – The Vincennes University baseball season likely came to a close Thursday afternoon at the Corn Crib in Normal, Ill. with the No. 5 seed Blazers falling 6-5 to No. 3-seed Parkland College in an elimination game at the Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) tournament. The game Thursday began almost exactly like VU’s opening round game against Danville Area with Vincennes trailing early after Parkland hit a three-run home run in the first inning. VU would get a run back in the second however, after a leadoff triple by sophomore Connor VanLannen (Clinton, Ind.). VanLannen would later score on a groundout by freshman Jordan Roth (Delphi, Ind.).

Vincennes picked up two wins and completed the four-game weekend sweep over John Wood, winning game one of the day 6-2 and taking game two 12-0 in five innings. VU got on the board first in game one of the day when sophomore Ryan Bartley (Tuscola, Ill.) led off the third inning with a single.

CARMEL, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazer baseball team closed out the road portion of their 2022 Spring regular season Tuesday afternoon, taking the short trip down to face NJCAA Division I No. 3-ranked Wabash Valley. The Warriors jumped out ahead early and held on as Vincennes fell by the final score of 11-1. Wabash Valley jumped on the scoreboard early and in a big way in the first inning, scoring five runs in the first and adding an additional run in the second to take an early 6-0 lead.

Vincennes gave up one big inning to host Lincoln Trail, where three fielding errors led to a big six-run inning for the Statesmen. VU attempted a comeback but ultimately fell short as Lincoln Trail came away with the 12-7 win.

The day began by finishing the final two innings of game two yesterday, which was suspended due to darkness. Vincennes finished off the 18-10 win. Vincennes also won game three of the series 10-7 after riding a big first inning.
CANTON, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazer baseball team began their Mid-West Athletic Conference play Sunday afternoon with a doubleheader at Spoon River College in Canton, Ill. The Trailblazers fell behind early and battled back to take game one 8-6 over the host Snappers. Game two of the doubleheader was suspended after the fifth inning due to darkness, with Vincennes holding a 14-9 lead. The game will be resumed tomorrow, March 21, before the scheduled doubleheader at 11 a.m. eastern.

The Trailblazers were led by their starting pitching and got some big at-bats at the plate but were ultimately swept in the third-game series 7-4, 4-1, 6-5.
