VINCENNES, Ind. – Vincennes University sophomore Peyton Lane (New Paris, Ohio) and freshman Colton Evans (Henderson, Ky.) received Second-Team All-Conference honors this past weekend at the 2022 Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) Baseball Tournament in Normal, IL. VU sophomore Luke Osborn (Perrysville, Ind.) was named All-Conference Honorable Mention and sophomore Colin Long (Evansville, Ind.) was named to the 2022 MWAC Rawlings Gold Glove Team. VU shortstop and Northern Kentucky signee Peyton Lane earned Second-Team All-Conference honors after posting a .399 batting average, with 22 doubles and 29 RBI’s, while drawing 18 walks in 50 games this season.

NORMAL, Ill. – The Vincennes University baseball season likely came to a close Thursday afternoon at the Corn Crib in Normal, Ill. with the No. 5 seed Blazers falling 6-5 to No. 3-seed Parkland College in an elimination game at the Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) tournament. The game Thursday began almost exactly like VU’s opening round game against Danville Area with Vincennes trailing early after Parkland hit a three-run home run in the first inning. VU would get a run back in the second however, after a leadoff triple by sophomore Connor VanLannen (Clinton, Ind.). VanLannen would later score on a groundout by freshman Jordan Roth (Delphi, Ind.).

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Trailblazer baseball team opened their final Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) series of the regular season Friday afternoon at Jerry Blemker Field against John Wood Community College. Vincennes earned a spot in the MWAC Conference postseason tournament next week with a game one 7-2 win and continued to better their chances of getting a higher seed with a 5-1 game two win. John Wood got on the board first in game one in the third inning, taking an early 1-0 lead over the host Trailblazers.

MT. CARMEL, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazer baseball team closed out the road portion of their 2022 Spring regular season Tuesday afternoon, taking the short trip down to face NJCAA Division I No. 3-ranked Wabash Valley. The Warriors jumped out ahead early and held on as Vincennes fell by the final score of 11-1. Wabash Valley jumped on the scoreboard early and in a big way in the first inning, scoring five runs in the first and adding an additional run in the second to take an early 6-0 lead.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Trailblazer baseball team opened their four-game Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) series Sunday afternoon by splitting the first two games with Parkland College at Jerry Blemker Field. The Trailblazers took game one over the Cobras 7-4 behind yet another really great pitching performance behind sophomore Connor VanLannen (Clinton, Ind.). Parkland battled back to take game two in comeback fashion, winning 7-5 over Vincennes.

ALTON, Ill. – VU sophomore center fielder Colin Long (Evansville, Ind.) broke a 7-7 tie in game four of Vincennes’ four-game Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) series at Lewis & Clark with a solo home run in the eighth inning to help give VU a 9-7 win to close out the series. Vincennes fell in the first game of the day 5-0 before battling back to take game two 9-7 and coming home with a 2-2 series split. Lewis & Clark wasted little time in game one of the day, scoring three runs in the first and adding another run in the second to take a 4-0 early lead.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Trailblazer baseball team closed out their weekend Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) series with Illinois Central College Saturday afternoon at Jerry Blemker Field. Vincennes took game one of the day after falling behind 10-4 in the sixth inning before rallying back to win 11-10. ICC took game two of the day to close out the weekend 9-1. Illinois Central grabbed the momentum early to begin game one, scoring four runs in the first inning.

VINCENNES, Ind. – Vincennes University game one starter sophomore Connor VanLannen (Clinton, Ind.) pitched a gem of a game Friday afternoon, pitching four and two-thirds innings of no-hit baseball to help Vincennes earn a Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) doubleheader split, taking game one 11-3 and dropping game two 5-4. Vincennes got the scoring started early in game one of the day, with leadoff hitter freshman Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.) reaching on a bunt single and advancing to second on a throwing error. Burdette would later score the first run of the game on a double steal attempt.

Burdette would come around to score on a sacrifice fly by sophomore Peyton Lane (New Paris, Ohio) to give Vincennes a 1-0 early lead.

The Trailblazers looked to get a few players back from injuries and get their bullpen ready for a four-game conference series against Heartland College this weekend. The Blue Devils jumped out to a big early lead after scoring three runs in the first, three runs in the second and two in the third to take an 8-0 lead.

VINCENNES, Ind. – In the second game of a back-to-back with Frontier Community College, the Vincennes University Trailblazers baseball team picked up the 2-1 win at Jerry Blemker Field Sunday afternoon. VU pitchers Kestler Harbuck (Brooksville, Fla.) and Luke Osborn (Perrysville, Ind.) held the Bobcats to just two hits in the nine-inning contest as VU came away with the win over the NJCAA Division I opponent. The Trailblazers got on the board early as sophomore Connor VanLannen (Clinton, Ind.) hit an RBI double in the bottom of the first to score sophomore Colin Long (Evansville, Ind.) and give VU the early 1-0 lead.

The Jaguars took game one of the day 7-5 before Vincennes closed out the weekend with the 7-6 game two victory. The first game of the day saw Vincennes grab an early lead, with sophomore Colin Long (Evansville, Ind.) getting a single in the first inning and would later score on a balk to give the Blazers the early 1-0 lead.

The Loggers picked up the first win of the day, taking game three of the series 13-2 before VU rallied back to finish the weekend by taking game four 4-2 with Vincennes starter sophomore Kestler Harbuck (Brooksville, Fla.) threw seven innings allowing only one hit. Lincoln Land began the day with a bang Sunday afternoon, jumping out to an early lead after scoring three runs in the first inning and two in the second.

The day began by finishing the final two innings of game two yesterday, which was suspended due to darkness. Vincennes finished off the 18-10 win. Vincennes also won game three of the series 10-7 after riding a big first inning.

The Trailblazers fell behind early and battled back to take game one 8-6 over the host Snappers. Game two of the doubleheader was suspended after the fifth inning due to darkness, with Vincennes holding a 14-9 lead. The game will be resumed tomorrow, March 21, before the scheduled doubleheader at 11 a.m. eastern.

VU wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as lead-off hitter freshman Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.) reached base on a bunt single and sophomore Colin Long (Evansville, Ind.) followed him with a walk. An RBI single by freshman Colton Evans (Henderson, Ky.) drove in Burdette as Long scored on a throwing error later in the inning to give Vincennes an early 2-0 lead.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University baseball season is getting into full swing at Jerry Blemker Field as the Trailblazers hosted Morton College and Joliet Junior College Sunday, Feb. 27 and Monday Feb. 28. Vincennes came away with a 1-2 record over the three-game set, after dropping the first two 10-5 and 10-3 to Morton and Joliet on Sunday, before coming back Monday to win 7-2 over Joliet. The three-game home weekend started with the Trailblazers hosting Morton College from Cicero, Ill.

The Trailblazers were led by their starting pitching and got some big at-bats at the plate but were ultimately swept in the third-game series 7-4, 4-1, 6-5. The weekend series began Saturday with a doubleheader and VU wasted little time at the plate, with leadoff hitter Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.) beginning the season with a single.
