NORMAL, Ill. – The Vincennes University baseball season likely came to a close Thursday afternoon at the Corn Crib in Normal, Ill. with the No. 5 seed Blazers falling 6-5 to No. 3-seed Parkland College in an elimination game at the Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) tournament. The game Thursday began almost exactly like VU’s opening round game against Danville Area with Vincennes trailing early after Parkland hit a three-run home run in the first inning. VU would get a run back in the second however, after a leadoff triple by sophomore Connor VanLannen (Clinton, Ind.). VanLannen would later score on a groundout by freshman Jordan Roth (Delphi, Ind.).
VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Trailblazer baseball team took the field at Jerry Blemker Field for one last time during the 2022 Spring regular season Saturday afternoon and did not disappoint on Sophomore Recognition Day. Vincennes picked up two wins and completed the four-game weekend sweep over John Wood, winning game one of the day 6-2 and taking game two 12-0 in five innings. VU got on the board first in game one of the day when sophomore Ryan Bartley (Tuscola, Ill.) led off the third inning with a single.

Vincennes earned a spot in the MWAC Conference postseason tournament next week with a game one 7-2 win and continued to better their chances of getting a higher seed with a 5-1 game two win. John Wood got on the board first in game one in the third inning, taking an early 1-0 lead over the host Trailblazers.

CARMEL, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazer baseball team closed out the road portion of their 2022 Spring regular season Tuesday afternoon, taking the short trip down to face NJCAA Division I No. 3-ranked Wabash Valley. The Warriors jumped out ahead early and held on as Vincennes fell by the final score of 11-1. Wabash Valley jumped on the scoreboard early and in a big way in the first inning, scoring five runs in the first and adding an additional run in the second to take an early 6-0 lead.

Parkland battled back to take game two in comeback fashion, winning 7-5 over Vincennes.

The series was pushed back a day after the rain in the forecast for Saturday and was moved to nearby Lloyd Hopkins Field in Alton, Ill. Vincennes took game one of the series 17-7 before host Lewis & Clark battled back to take game two 11-4.
VINCENNES, Ind. – Vincennes University game one starter sophomore Connor VanLannen (Clinton, Ind.) pitched a gem of a game Friday afternoon, pitching four and two-thirds innings of no-hit baseball to help Vincennes earn a Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) doubleheader split, taking game one 11-3 and dropping game two 5-4. Vincennes got the scoring started early in game one of the day, with leadoff hitter freshman Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.) reaching on a bunt single and advancing to second on a throwing error. Burdette would later score the first run of the game on a double steal attempt.

Vincennes got the scoring started early, plating three runs in the first on four-straight singles by freshman Colton Evans (Henderson, Ky.), sophomores Connor VanLannen (Clinton, Ind.), Dale Coy (Evansville, Ind.) and freshman Jordan Roth (Delphi, Ind.). Oakland City would rally back to even the score with a run in the first and two in the second, before Vincennes again grabbed the lead when VanLannen got a one-out single in the third and came around to score on a wild pitch.

Vincennes fell in the first game of the day to NJCAA Division-I No. 7 Wabash Valley 16-0 in five innings and fell 16-7 to NJCAA Division-II No. 6-ranked Kellogg Community College in the afternoon game. Wabash Valley wasted little time getting on the scoreboard in the first game of the day, as the leadoff hitter got on base with a single and came around to score on a fielding error later in the inning, giving the Warriors a 1-0 lead.
